VCM Amp Models

Designed by a team of guitarists in pursuit of the perfect tone, the THR series delivers both the sound you crave and the feel you need. Its effects are crafted to enhance and complement your playing, featuring immersive reverbs and delays that push your performance to new heights. Unlike traditional amps, THR doesn’t rely on high volumes—its innovative design ensures incredible tone and dynamic response, even at low levels. With this amp, you can keep playing all night long without compromise.

The THR5 offers five distinct amp types:

VCM Effects

Most THR effects are powered by VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) processors, the same technology used in Yamaha's professional audio mixers. Unlike basic digital simulations, VCM effects accurately replicate the warmth and character of classic analogue gear, providing unmatched realism and musicality.

Yamaha Hi-Fi Audio Technology

Developed in collaboration with Yamaha’s award-winning AV division, the THR series delivers true hi-fi stereo sound, redefining the guitar amp experience. Its custom-designed speaker enclosure is optimised to handle both guitar tones and stereo playback, ensuring exceptional sound quality whether you're jamming or listening to your favourite tracks.

New Extended Stereo Technology

Yamaha’s Extended Stereo Technology creates an incredibly wide and spacious soundstage. Studio-quality reverb and stereo tracks achieve a depth and presence far beyond what you’d expect from such a compact amp.

Power Options

The THR series operates on both AC power (adapter included) and battery power, offering flexibility for home, studio, and mobile use.

Cubase AI – Professional Recording Software

Each THR amp is bundled with Cubase AI, a full-featured music production application from Steinberg, allowing for professional-grade recording and editing.

THR Editor – Deep Sound Customisation

For even greater control, the THR Editor (available for download at Yamaha's official website) provides in-depth customisation of amp and effect parameters. This includes additional tools such as a compressor and noise gate, giving you complete tonal control.

USB & AUX Connectivity

The USB connection allows for direct stereo playback from your computer, while the AUX input lets you play along with tracks from your smartphone or other external devices.

TAP: Time / HOLD: Tuner

The tap tempo function lets you quickly adjust delay times, while the built-in chromatic tuner ensures precise and stable tuning with an easy-to-read display.

Virtual Tube Illumination

For a truly authentic experience, THR’s Virtual Tube Illumination simulates the warm orange glow of real tube amplifiers, visible through the metal speaker grille.
