The Volca Modular’s eight independent modules include:

• Source: Triangle VCO with FM modulation and wave-folding for rich overtones.
• Functions: Two function generators (ADH and Rise-Fall), usable as VCOs or LFOs.
• Woggle: Random signal generator with stepped or smooth noise.
• Split: Routes one signal to two outputs or combines signals into one.
• Dual LPG: Combines filters and amps for dynamic sound shaping.
• Utility: A mixer/scaler for combining, attenuating, or inverting signals.
• Space Out: Stereo module with reverb-like effects.

The Volca Modular’s 50 patch points (colour-coded for clarity) provide infinite routing options using the included 20 pin cables. Audio, control, gate, and trigger signals are universally compatible between modules, encouraging experimental patching beyond traditional norms.

16-Step Sequencer with Motion Control

The built-in 16-step sequencer allows for:

• Real-time recording and step input.
• Motion Sequencing to capture knob movements for dynamic sound changes.
• Pattern Chaining to connect sequences, creating up to 256-step patterns.
• Active Step for skipping steps and creating polyrhythms.

Randomisation and Advanced Playback Modes

New Bounce Mode and Stochastic Mode add variety by altering sequence playback direction. A Randomize function generates unexpected ideas for notes, steps, and tuning, sparking fresh creativity.

Scales, Micro-Tuning, and Key Flexibility

Choose from 14 scales (including equal temperament) and adjust the tonic key for flexible musical performance. A micro-tuning function lets you customise each note’s pitch, perfect for crafting unique tunings.

Seamless Integration

The SYNC IN/OUT and CV IN connections enable synchronised performance with other Volca units, Korg synths (Minilogue, Monologue, Prologue), Electribes, or the SQ-1 sequencer. The CV IN supports ±5V and 1V/oct signals for external control.
