The Korg Volca Beats Analog Rhythm Machine is a DIY lo-fi sound drum and rhythm machine that allows you to create patterns, sequences, rhythms and drum loops. It features a PCM sound engine and an integrated sequencer, which delivers that homeskool 80's sound.
The internal heart of the Korg Volca Beats is its PCM sound engine, which gives you plenty of sounds to work with, including Kick, Snare Hi Tom, Lo Tom, Closed Hi Hat, and Open Hi Hat, plus oddities like Crash, Clap, Agogo, and Claves.
The 16-step sequencer features stutter and active step modes for complete creative release. It also comes with a sync jack for linking multiple Volcas, allowing you to get groovy to your full potential. It has the usual MIDI connectivity for use with your DAW or MIDI keyboard and built-in speakers, and it can be battery-operated for complete freedom when customising your sound.
Powerful Rhythm Machine
Historic and vintage sounds meet modern tech, allowing you to add slices of 80s lo-fi to your tracks but with a few extras to make it easier. It comes with an onboard 16-step sequencer, also used in Korg's Electribe, plus a massive range of analog drum sounds. The analog circuitry gives you that vintage synth vibe and voice, perfect for adding a touch of retro to your tracks, making the Korg Volca Beats super-versatile.
Analog Drum Sounds
It arrives fully loaded with a huge range of sounds, including snare hi tom, lo tom, closed and open hi hat, and Kick. Thanks to its nod to the 909 and 808 sounds, the Korg Beats sound is prevalent in modern and older dance music.
In addition, the Volca Beats also includes a PCM sound engine, which gives you options for tones and sounds that the analogue circuitry can't create. This combination of retro style and modern technology provides you with clap, claves, agogo, and crash sounds. You can even change the PCM speed to raise or lower the pitch for added customisation.
16-Step Sequencer from Electribe
The onboard loop/step sequencer is borrowed from the equally powerful Korg Electribe. This 16-step sequencer features 16 step keys, enabling intuitive note entry, while LED lights help monitor timing. You can even play the touch panel keyboard while recording in real-time.
The sequencer's dynamic stutter mode makes your live performances sing and scream, injecting energy and creativity into your sound. You can also easily craft drum rolls and delay-inspired effects in real time, adding depth to your sequences.
Plus, you can capture every twist and turn of the stutter knob for even greater expression. The Active Step and Step Jump features let you experiment with rhythm, enabling you to insert or remove steps for unpredictable, irregular patterns—ideal for spontaneous and engaging live shows.
Plus, the internal storage gives you enough space for up to eight sequence patterns.
Compact and Portable
Not only does the Korg Volca Beats deliver sound, but its compact size and lightweight design mean it doesn't take up any room in your studio or live setup. It has built-in speakers for creating patterns and rhythms on the move.
The Sync jack allows you to add multiple Volca units for synchronised playback. Perfect for a fully personalised sound, the MIDI IN connector expands your functionality by hooking the Volca Beats up to your selected DAW. You can also run this powerful rhythm unit on AA batteries, which are perfect for breaking beats on the fly.
